New baggage rules per 1 October

1 October 2014 | On most European KLM flights booked on or after 1 October 2014, Flying Blue Ivory members can check in a suitcase for EUR 7.50 per one way.

Up to 75% online discount

New baggage rules

As of 1 October 2014, Ivory Flying Blue members can take only hand baggage for free on most European KLM flights. Hand baggage may consist of 1 bag and 1 accessory (such as a laptop) - combined up to 12 kg.

On those flights booked on or after 1 October, Ivory members can bring a suitcase (up to 23 kg) for just EUR 7.50 each way, if arranged in advance on KLM.com. This means 75% off the airport fee. Paying with Miles is also possible online, although not with a discount.

This rule already applies to all non-Flying Blue members. They can check in a suitcase for EUR 15 each way for most European flights - if arranged before departure at KLM.com.

Free check-in baggage

After 1 October, you can continue to bring at least 1 suitcase free of charge in any of these cases:

  • On all intercontinental KLM flights and on European KLM flights that are part of an intercontinental trip
  • On European KLM flights to and from Russia, Belarus, Georgia, Ukraine and Italy (except to and from Florence, Bologna, Turin and Venice).
  • If you are a Silver, Gold or Platinum Flying Blue member
  • With fully flexible ticket types Y & B
