    There are a number of items that may not be carried in your hand baggage or check-in baggage. Articles that may pose a risk to the safety of other passengers and crew may not be taken on board.

    Liquids in your hand baggage

    Liquids may be carried in your hand baggage but only in small amounts not exceeding 100 ml ( 3.4 oz) per article. You must place these in a transparent and sealable plastic bag with a volume of no more than 1 litre. The bag must be closed and the articles must fit inside it easily. One transparent plastic bag may be taken per person.

    Firearms

    You may not carry articles in your hand baggage or check-in baggage which are or appear capable of firing a projectile or causing injury. These include:

    • Air pistols, air rifles and pellet guns
    • BB guns (ball bearing guns)
    • Catapults
    • Crossbows
    • Firearm components (except telescopic viewing equipment and view finders)
    • Firearms (pistols, revolvers, rifles, etc.)
    • Harpoons and spear guns
    • Humane animal killers
    • Industrial staple and nail guns
    • Jewellery or amulets made out of live bullets or empty bullet shells*
    • Lighters
    • Replica and imitation firearms
    • Signal flare pistols
    • Starting pistols
    • Stun or shocking devices, e.g. cattle prods and ballistic conducted energy systems
    • Toy guns

    * applies only to flights to or from the Philippines

    Some firearms and ammunition intended for sports and hunting purposes may under certain conditions be carried as check-in baggage.

    Pointed/edged weapons & objects

    You may not carry pointed or edged objects in your hand baggage that could cause injury. These include:

    • Arrows and darts
    • Axes and hatchets
    • Climbing irons
    • Harpoons and spears
    • Ice axes and ice picks
    • Ice skates
    • Jack-knives or flick knives with blades of any length
    • Knives, including ceremonial knives, with a blade of more than 6 cm (2.5 inches), made of metal or other material strong enough to be used as a weapon
    • Machetes
    • Meat cleavers
    • Open razors (excluding safety or disposable razors with blades enclosed in cartridges)
    • Sabres, swords and sword sticks
    • Scalpels
    • Scissors with blades more than 6 cm in length
    • Ski and walking/hiking poles
    • Throwing stars
    • Tools that could be used as a pointed or edged weapon, e.g. drills and drill bits, Stanley knives, utility knives, all saws, screwdrivers, crowbars, hammers, pliers, wrenches and spanners, soldering equipment

    Blunt instruments

    You may not take any blunt instruments in your hand baggage which have the potential to cause injury, such as:

    • Baseball and softball bats
    • Billiard, snooker and pool cues
    • Cricket bats
    • Fishing rods
    • Golf clubs
    • Hockey sticks
    • Kayak or canoe paddles
    • Lacrosse sticks
    • Martial arts equipment, e.g. knuckledusters, sticks, clubs, flails, numchucks, kubatons and kubasaunts
    • Rigid and flexible clubs or batons, e.g. truncheons, blackjacks and batons
    • Skateboards 

    Explosives and flammable substances

    You may not take any explosive or highly flammable substances in your hand baggage or check-in baggage which may pose a risk to the health or property of passengers and crew or to the safety of the aircraft. These include:

    • Aerosol spray paint cans
    • Alcoholic beverages exceeding 70% by volume (140% proof)
    • Ammunition
    • Blasting caps
    • Detonators and fuses
    • Explosives and explosive devices
    • Fireworks or flares in any form (including firecrackers and toy caps)
    • Flammable liquid fuel, e.g. petrol, diesel, lighter fluid, alcohol, ethanol
    • Gas and gas bottles, e.g. butane, propane, acetylene, oxygen in large volumes
    • Grenades
    • Matches, except safety matches
    • Mines and other explosive military devices
    • Replica or imitation explosive materials or explosives
    • Smoke grenades or cartridges
    • Turpentine and paint thinner

    Chemical and toxic substances

    You may not take any chemical or toxic substances with you that may pose a risk to the health or property of passengers and crew or to the safety of the aircraft. These include:

    • Acids and alkalis, e.g. spillable ‘wet’ batteries
    • Corrosive or bleaching substances, e.g. mercury and chlorine
    • Disabling or incapacitating sprays, e.g. mace, pepper spray, tear gas
    • Fire extinguishers
    • Infectious or biologically hazardous material, e.g. infected blood, bacteria and viruses
    • Material capable of spontaneous ignition or combustion
    • Poisons
    • Radioactive material, e.g. medicinal or commercial isotopes
