What is an electronic boarding pass?

An electronic boarding pass is a boarding pass you receive on your mobile telephone, Smartphone, BlackBerry or PDA. This boarding pass contains the same data as a paper boarding pass, plus a barcode that is scanned at the gate. Therefore you do not have to print this boarding pass. In combination with your passport or identification card you can clear all the checkpoints at the airport. With the electronic boarding pass you may still use all the airport facilities. If, for any reason, you are unable to have your barcode scanned at the airport, you may always use the self-service check-in counters or service desk at the airport to print a boarding pass.

When you check in by using your mobile telephone, Smartphone, BlackBerry or PDA, you will be offered the possibility of receiving an electronic boarding pass:

  • when traveling between Amsterdam and Paris and vice versa;
  • by means of sms, mms or e-mail.

Depending on your subscription and on the options your mobile telephone, Smartphone, BlackBerry or PDA offers, you can choose for e-mail, mms or sms. There is no qualitative difference in the barcode.

  • E-mail and mms: You will receive one message with your barcode and check-in details. If you choose to receive mms, please be sure to have your provider activate this possibility on your telephone.
  • Sms: You swill receive two sms-text messages. The first message will contain a link with which you can request your personal barcode. You will also need this link at the airport to show the barcode. The second one will contain a text message with your check-in details.

How do I get my boarding pass?

You can print out your boarding pass at one of the Air France or KLM self-service machines at the airport. If no self-service machines are available, you can have your boarding pass printed at the baggage drop-off points or at the Europe Select check-in counter. This can be done no later than 30 minutes before departure.

KLM or Air France self-service machines that you can use to print out your boarding pass are available at the airports at the following destinations:

  • Amsterdam, Athens, Berlin Tegel (Air France), Bergen, Billund, Bordeaux (Air France), Düsseldorf, Frankfurt (Air France), Geneva, Helsinki, Humberside, Copenhagen, London Heathrow, Lyon (Air France), Manchester, Marseille (Air France), Moscow, Munich (Air France), Newcastle, Nice (Air France), Oslo, Paris Charles de Gaulle (Air France), Rome Fiumicino, Sandefjord, Stavanger, Toulouse, Vienna, Zurich
