Amsterdam Airport renovations

On 15 September 2014 Schiphol Amsterdam Airport starts renovating the area beyond passport control in Departure Hall 2. Also, Schiphol is working on a central checkpoint for non-Schengen destinations.

The construction works will continue until at least May 2015. Please keep in mind that you might be delayed on your way from the passport control in Departure Hall 2 to the gate. We recommend arriving earlier before departure of your KLM or other flight.

Intercontinental flights and flight to the UK

Most hindrance is expected for intercontinental passengers or when flying to the UK. If you depart from gates F of G we advise going through the passport check in Departure Hall 3.

We will do our utmost to limit the inconvenience for travellers. Naturally, we will keep you updated on the latest developments at Schiphol Airport.

Israel - Political unrest

We offer you the following re-book options if you are travelling to/from or via Tel Aviv between Wednesday, 20 August 2014 up to and including Thursday, 11 September. Eligibility only for customers with an original ticket issue date on or before Wednesday 20 August 2014.

  • you have a KLM or AF ticket
  • your outbound or inbound journey has not started yet

We offer you the following rebook options and conditions:

1. Change of travel dates
The following conditions apply:

  • You may change 1 outbound journey and 1 inbound journey on KLM, AIR FRANCE and/or Delta Air Lines flights free of charge.
  • If your journey is to, from or via Tel Aviv, between Wednesday, 20 August 2014 up to and including Thursday, 11 September 2014, your new departure date should be no later than Friday, 26 September 2014, the original duration of stay remains unchanged.
  • Penalties and change fees do not apply.
  • Re-booking is possible only if seats are available in the same booking class as stated in the original ticket.
  • If only a higher booking class than the one stated in the original ticket is available, than the difference in fare will be charged when rebooking. You do not have to pay a change fee.
  • If your journey is to, from or via Tel Aviv, rebooking must be done at the latest on Friday, 26 September 2014.


2. Change of destination
You may use the full value of your original tickets to buy new tickets of the same or a higher KLM, AIR FRANCE and/or Delta Air Lines fare.

  • If your journey is to or from the above Tel Aviv airport your new departure date should be no later than Friday, 26 September 2014. The original duration of stay remains unchanged.
  • Penalties and change fees do not apply
  • If your journey is to, from or via, Tel Aviv re-issuing must be done at the latest on Friday, 26 September 2014.


3. Refunds
You are entitled to a full refund of your ticket if:

  • Your flight is between Wednesday, 20 August 2014 up to and including Thursday, 11 September 2014 to or from Tel Aviv, and were cancelled by KLM, AIR FRANCE and/or Delta Air Lines, or your flight was delayed for more than 3 hours and you did not travel.


If you bought your ticket via KLM.com, a KLM ticket office or KLM Telephone Reservations, and your ticket number starts with 074, you can apply for a refund by filling out our online refund form. This will avoid long waiting times at our sales and service centres. If you booked via a travel agent, you should contact them directly.

West Africa - Health situation (extended)

KLM is issuing a rebook policy for customers travelling to the Western part of Africa because of the health situation. Flights to/from West-Africa continue to operate as scheduled. However, we offer you the following re-book options if you are travelling to/from or via Nigeria: LOS (Lagos), ABV (Abuja) and PHC (Port Harcourt), Guinea: CKY (Conakry), Liberia: ROB (Monrovia) and Sierra Leone: FNA (Freetown) between Friday, 1 August 2014 and Tuesday, 30 September 2014.

You can log in to My Trip to view your flight detail, or to change your travel dates yourself if:

  • you have a KLM or AF ticket
  • your outbound or inbound journey has not started yet
  • you are not travelling with an infant

USA and Canada - Electronic devices in hand baggage

For flights from Amsterdam Airport Schiphol, or from Paris – Charles de Gaulle to destinations in the United States or in Canada, all battery-operated electronic devices in hand baggage will undergo an extra check. At the gate, these devices will need to be taken out of their sleeves or covers, be switched on and be shown to be operative.

United Kingdom - Possible closure of Manston Airport in Kent

Due to the possible closure of Manston (Kent) Airport, leading to the suspension of KLM flights, the following voluntary re-book options may be offered to customers travelling to/from Manston (MSE) from Thursday, 27 March 2014 up to and including Saturday, 28 February 2015.
