Gold Standard projects
Planting trees won’t provide a long-term solution. That is why we follow the policy of the World Wide Fund for Nature and compensating through renewable energy projects awarded the Gold Standard.
On this page:
The Gold Standard
This is the highest-achievable sign of excellence in CO2 compensation, awarded to projects that are most effective in reducing emissions and developing clean, renewable energy sources. Gold Standard projects are CO2-friendly renewable energy projects that would not have been realized without CO2 compensation investments.
Examples of these projects:
Wind Farms
Wind farms that convert wind into electricity are a clean, renewable energy source. Cleaner than, for example coal-burning power plants
Solar Energy
Harnessing the sun’s power to make electricity has many uses, and reduces man’s reliance on fossil fuels.
Jatropha Plantations
Growing Jatropha plants not only soaks up CO2 but also produces oil-bearing seeds that can be used as biofuel. It can be used in diesel engines to power vehicles.
Biogas
Biogas is a renewable fuel, comprised mostly of methane and CO2. In developing countries biogas can be used as a low-cost fuel for cooking or heating. It can also be used to generate electricity.
Biomass
A renewable biofuel made from plant matter. It can be burned to produce heat or electricity, or left to decay in order to capture the methane produced. Either way, it is a substitute for coal or gas.
Landfill Gas
Projects to cut the amount of methane and CO2 produced by the waste we all throw away every day play a significant role towards climate care.
