Flight status notification via text message or e-mail

Discover the convenience of receiving Flight Status Notification in the form of text messages or e-mails. With this handy service, you’re always kept informed about your flight. To apply for it, simply go to ‘Manage My Booking’. We’ll then start letting you know straightaway about any changes concerning your flight, whether they be delays, cancellations or gate changes. What is included in this service?

When you have booked a ticket with us, or if your flight is being made with a KLM aircraft, you can choose to be informed of the latest developments concerning your flight by means of e-mail or text message. This service is available only for direct flights departing from or arriving at Amsterdam. If you have to transfer, you will receive messages only for the flight leaving from or arriving at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol. When you apply for this service, you can choose which way you want to receive your messages:

  • Cancellation: If your flight is cancelled, you will receive a text message or e-mail between 96 and 3 hours prior to your departure.
  • Flight delay: You will receive a message if a delay will last longer than 30 minutes or if multiple delays will exceed 30 minutes. Messages about delays will be sent between 48 hours and 60 minutes prior to departure.
  • Gate changes:  Gate changes are sent within 60 minutes of departure. These messages are sent only for flights departing from Schiphol.
  • Boarding alerts: You will receive a message with the number of your gate when boarding for your flight has started. You will receive this message only if you depart from Amsterdam Airport Schiphol.
  • Check-in alerts: If you have not checked in for your flight 22 hours prior to departure, you will receive a check-in alert. The link sent with the message allows you to check in directly by making use of mobile check-in as long as the following conditions are met: 
    -You have a mobile phone or Blackberry with an Internet connection
    -You fly from Amsterdam to a destination in Europe or vice versa
    -You have not yet checked in and you are traveling alone
    Latest information about arrival and departure times: Would you like to receive the latest information about the arrival and departure times for your own flight or the flight on which a friend or family member is a passenger? If so, send us a text message with the KLM flight number to +44 77 81 488 747 (making sure that your number recognition is activated). We will then send you a text message giving the latest arrival and departure times as long as the flight departs or lands 12 hours before or after your request.               

How do I apply?

At this website, go to ‘Manage my Booking’ and enter your name and booking code. Once you are logged in, you can indicate which kinds of messages you want to receive. 

Flying Blue members can either apply at the website or send a text message  to +44 77 81 488 747. Give your Flying Blue number followed by ‘ON’. Example: FB123456789 ON. If you apply by sending a text message, you will automatically receive all the possible messages. To change the settings, simply go to ‘My booking’ where you can indicate which messages you want to receive. It’s also easy to unsubscribe: just send a text message to +44 77 81 488 747. Give your Flying Blue number followed by ‘OFF’. Example: FB123456789 OFF.

When can I make use of this service?

You can make use of the Flight Status Notification service when you have booked a ticket through us or if your flight is being made with a KLM aircraft. You should also be booked on a direct flight from or to Amsterdam. If your trip involves a transfer, you will receive information only for the flight departing from or arriving at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol.
