Receive current flight information via telephone, e-mail and text message

We do everything possible to ensure that you enjoy your flight. Unfortunately, everything does not always go according to plan. When this happens, we try to provide you with the best information available.

Always a message in case of delays or cancellations

You will always receive a telephone call if your flight is cancelled or in the case of a delay of more than 2 hours for intercontinental flights. We only need to have your mobile telephone number and e-mail address. If we are unable to reach you by telephone we will send you an e-mail.

How can you send us your telephone number and e-mail address?

All passengers

When you make a booking by telephone, via www.klm.com or via a travel agent – always provide your mobile telephone number and your e-mail address. 

Flying Blue members

Add your mobile telephone number to your Flying Blue-profile. When you make a booking always provide your Flying Blue number.

Extra services: Free sms or e-mail service

The free sms or e-mail service of KLM allows you to receive relevant flight information during key moments during your journey. You can personally determine which information you would like to receive and how. 

Go to  ‘Manage my Booking'  and enter your mobile telephone number or e-mail address. Tick on the services you would like to receive:

Flight information

When?

In the case of a cancellation

From 96 hours to 3 hours prior to departure.

In the case of a delay

In the case of delays of more than 30 minutes, or in the case of multiple delays that total more than 30 minutes. From 48 hours to 1 hour prior to departure.

Checking in on time

If you have not yet checked in 22 hours prior to departure you will receive a message. You can check in directly by mobile by using the attached link. Read more about checking in by mobile.

In the case of gate changes

From 1 hour prior to departure. This only applies if you depart from Amsterdam Airport Schiphol.

While boarding

At the start of the boarding procedure. This only applies if you depart from Amsterdam Airport Schiphol.

Even easier for Flying Blue members

You can subscribe for this service in two ways:

  1. Go to   ‘Manage my Booking' and enter your mobile telephone number. 

  2. Or send a text message with your Flying Blue number and the word ‘ON’ to +44 77 81 488 747. For example: FB0123456789 ON. You only subscribe once and then this service is automatically activated every time when you fly with KLM. 

Arrival and departure times, also for those staying behind at home

Do you want to know the current status of your own flight or the flight of a friend or a family member on the day of arrival or departure? Then send a text message containing the applicable KLM flight number to +44 77 81 488 747. You will then receive a single text message, which will indicate the status of the flight at that moment. This service only functions if number recognition on your mobile is switched on. 

Because there may be a flight with the same flight number departing on other days of the week as well, we advise you not to request this text message service earlier than 12 hours prior to departure.
