New Security Measures on Liquids/Gels/Aerosols at Incheon Airport

To respond to the emerging threat of liquid explosives and to comply with the recommendations of the ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organization), passengers are advised that liquids, gels and aerosols in their on board carry-on bags will be subject to hand baggage restrictions from 1 March 2007. This is applicable to all international flights (including transfer and transit flights) departing from Republic of Korea.

Restrictions on liquids, gels and aerosols in your hand baggage

  • Limit on liquids, gels and aerosols: no more than 100ml (3.5oz) or less per container
    The bag may not be larger than 1 liter (35oz)     

Permitted carry-on items

  • All liquids, gels and aerosols must be in individual containers not larger than 100ml capacity. 
  • Items must be placed in a clear, transparent, resealable/zip-topped 1liter-size bag (approximately 20cmX20cm in dimension) and fit easily in the sealed/zipped bag.
  • Each passenger is allowed only 1 liter-size resealable plastic bag 
  • Each passenger must remove his / her clear plastic bag from their hand baggage and place it on the conveyor belt for X-ray screening.
        

Duty-free items

Liquids and gels purchased at airport duty free shops after passing the security checkpoint or purchased at duty free shops in the city and delivered at the airport's duty free pick-up counters are allowed on the following conditions:

  • Liquids and gels must be packed in a sealed transparent plastic bag (tamper-evident bag).
  • The tamper-evident bag must not be opened or damaged until the final destination. 
  • Receipts of the purchased duty-free items must be properly attached to or enclosed in the tamper-evident bag.

Exemptions

  • Liquids, gels and aerosols for medical purposes allowed as well as baby food (e.g. baby formulas, breast milk, baby juice) intended for use during the flight when travelling with a baby.
