    In each of our travel classes we offer various ticket types, or booking classes, for travel within Europe and for intercontinental flights.

    Our fares

    We have subdivided our fares into various booking classes, each with differing conditions. These booking classes are indicated by alphabetical characters, such as ‘R’ or ‘Z’.

    Please note:
    Our fares structure has changed. If you booked on or after 10 February 2011, the new fares as listed below apply. If you booked before that date, the old rules apply. These can be found in the e-mail confirmation of your reservation.

    Conditions may vary per flight and per carrier. You will see the conditions applying to your flight during the various steps you take when booking online. Accepting the conditions is a required step to complete your booking.

    Conditions that differ per booking class:

    • Minimum stay
      A certain number of days (varying between 1 and 3 for European travel and between 2 and 7 days for intercontinental travel) are required between your outbound and return flight.
    • Changing your ticket
      If changing your flight to another day or time is possible, this might or might not involve a charge
    • Cancelling your ticket
      If cancelling your ticket is possible, this could be either free of charge or against an additional fee. If you do not take all flights or legs of this journey, or in the specified order, extra costs may be charged.


    Booking classes on KLM flights:

    • Lowest Available Fare
      Minimum stay is required, changing or cancelling a ticket is not possible. You will be seated in Economy Class.
    • Economy
      Minimum stay is required and changing the ticket is possible by paying a surcharge. Cancelling a ticket is not possible. You will be seated in Economy Class.
    • Economy Flexible
      No minimum stay is necessary for European travel. For intercontinental travel, a minimum stay is required. Changing a ticket is possible but will require paying an additional fee, and cancelling a ticket is possible against a fee. An exception applies to T- and L-classes for European travel: cancelling a ticket is not possible. You will be seated in Economy Class.
    • Economy Fully Flexible
      No minimum stay is required, changing and cancelling your ticket is free of charge. You will be seated in Economy Class.
    • Premium Economy Fully Flexible
      No minimum stay is required, changing and cancelling a ticket is free of charge. You will be seated in Business Class. Please note that Premium Economy Fully Flexible is only available on flights:
      • From Amsterdam to Paris
      • From Amsterdam, Rotterdam and Eindhoven to London City (LCY)
    • Business Class Flexible
      Available on intercontinental travel only. A minimum stay is required, changing a ticket involves a surcharge and cancelling a ticket is possible at an additional fee. You will be seated in Business Class.
    • Business Class Fully Flexible
      No minimum stay is required, changing and cancelling a ticket is free of charge. You will be seated in Business Class.


    Please note that some fares are available only on flights within Europe or only on intercontinental flights.

    ** If your name or other personal details in your booking have been misspelt, please contact the KLM Service Centre within 24 hours after making your booking, the correction can then be performed free of charge. After 24 hours you will be charged €50 administration fee.
