Hand baggage restrictions at airports in the EU

Effective November 6,2006, for passenger travelling from or catching connecting flights in the European Union (EU), plus Norway, Switzerland, and Iceland the following applies:

No liquids, gels, pastes, creams, and/or aerosols (spray) are permitted in hand baggage.           

The following exceptions apply for liquids in hand baggage:

Three exceptions will be made:

Tax free purchases      
You will still be allowed to make (tax-free) purchases at European airports after passing through passport control and aboard flights operated by European airlines. Liquids and gels will be packed and sealed for you in the shop or on board, if necessary. The package seal will remain valid for 24 hours. If you have to catch a connecting flight, you will not be allowed to break the seal until you have reached your final destination.

All flights from the USA, Canada, India, the Philippines, and Romania

The same rules apply as for flights in the EU: 
No liquids, gels, and/or aerosols are permitted.

Some more details apply:
USA/Canada:
 
You may have the items listed below, but you must declare them to TSA at the screening checkpoint if they are not contained in a clear transparent re sealable 1 quart (1 litre) size plastic bag and/or are over 3.4 oz. (100ml).

India  and Philippines: 
Medications should be accompanied by prescription on the passenger’s name.   

Philippines:
Insulin and other non prescription medicines and airline crew grooming kits. 
Liquids (to include juice) or gels for diabetic or other medical needs.

Romania:
Tax-free purchases will not be packed and sealed for you in the shop or on board.
All other liquids, gels, and/or aerosols may be transported in checked baggage.

Duty free articles
Passengers transferring at Schiphol to the USA are advised NOT to purchase any duty free liquids, gels or aerosols at their point of departure or during their inbound flight to Amsterdam. 
Passengers transferring in the USA or in Canada are advised to place any duty free liquids, gels or aerosols in their checked baggage after clearing custom and immigration services.
