Hugely successful KLM Open 2013
We can look back on an exceptional 94th edition of the KLM Open which included a truly memorable ending. In a thrilling play-off, Holland’s favourite Joost Luiten defeated the Spaniard Miguel Ángel Jiménez at the Kennemer Golf & Country Club in Zandvoort.
Public favourite and Ambassador
It was the first time in ten years that a Dutchman had managed to win the tournament, following on from the achievement of Maarten Lafeber at the Hilversum Golf in 2003. This was Joost Luiten’s second win at the highest European level this season. The public favourite is also Ambassador of the KLM Open and, as Luiten’s brand-new sponsor and as title sponsor of the KLM Open, KLM could not have asked for a better result.
In addition to being the most prestigious golf tournament in the Netherlands, the KLM Open was also named ‘most sustainable golf tournament in Europe’ by the Sustainable Golf Index for the second time in 2012. This year, we upped the ante further by introducing an even more extensive list of environmentally-friendly processes and products than in previous years.
