Special assistance by KLM CARES
If you require some assistance at the airport, want to bring your service animal or will be travelling with special medical equipment, you can count on KLM CARES. Simply make your special assistance request through My Trip or by phone.
Don’t forget to make your request at least 48 hours before departure. If you have a certain medical condition and require care during the flight, you will need to complete our medical forms.
Vaccinations & health advice
If you are travelling, you may be at risk of being affected by all sorts of diseases. Many infectious diseases can easily be prevented if you get vaccinated or take the right precautionary measures. Find out as early as possible how you can prepare yourself:
In the Netherlands, there are 4 Travel Clinics of KLM Health Services that have up-to-date health and travel-related information for all destinations and can provide:
- Vaccinations and advice regarding other precautionary measures
- Medication, such as malaria prophylaxes
- Health-related travel items
- Medical examinations
You can drop in during extended opening hours. Or you can make an appointment online which prevents unnecessary waiting.
We can also advise business travellers about healthy travel – before departure, while abroad and after they return. We would be happy to inform you about the possibilities for your employees as well.
First aid at Amsterdam Airport
If you require emergency first aid at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol, we have a 24-hour first aid post and pharmacy. Both are located in Departure Hall 2 upstairs and overlooking check-in desk 16.
The pharmacy is open weekdays from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, but emergency medications can be obtained 24/7. Phone number: +31 (0)20 648 14 50.
Travel by air is usually safe for mothers-to-be. However, once you are 36 weeks into your pregnancy, we recommend against flying. We also discourage flying during the first week following delivery, also for your baby.
If you are expecting more than 1 baby, we recommend consulting your physician first. If you have had complications, you always need to have permission to fly from your physician.
