Because tastes differ, we offer everyone a wider choice. In addition to our standard meals, you can now enjoy 5 special à la carte meals.
You can order à la carte meals:
- At KLM.com when booking your flight or at Manage my Booking from 90 days to 48 hours before departure
- At an additional cost between 12 and 15 euros
- Exclusively when seated in Economy Class on intercontinental KLM flights departing from Amsterdam except when flying to Cairo, San Francisco, Tel Aviv and Toronto
Because we serve a limited number of à la carte meals per flight, be sure to order as soon as possible. If you have requested a special meal for religious, dietary or medical reasons, you cannot order an à la carte meal.
Discover Dutch cuisine: healthy, hearty and flavourful. Begin your Dutch dinner with a starter of beef salad à la hussard with asparagus spears wrapped in ham.
Then enjoy a main course of two kinds of hotchpotch, one with kale and the other with carrots, traditionally served with a Dutch sausage and a rich gravy.
A selection of Dutch cheeses – Leerdammer and Old Amsterdam – accompanied by walnuts and plums, is followed by a dessert featuring a spiced biscuit mousse with caramel sauce.

A delicate entrée of sushi is followed by tasty chicken with steamed rice and vegetables.
Your menu is accompanied by a Japanese ‘soba’ noodle salad with subtly smoked salmon.
A Bella Italia meal includes the most delicious flavours of Italy!
The starter, served on a bed of mixed lettuce, is an organic veal rib-eye with vitello tonnato sauce garnished with asparagus, roasted sweet pepper and pine nuts.
Next, enjoy a delightful risotto primavera: a creamy Italian rice dish with several different kinds of vegetables.
Alongside is a crispy salad with marinated black and green olives and sweet pepper. Your Italian meal is topped off with a real Italian classic dessert: tiramisu.
If you want a meal that’s both delightful and healthful, try this richly varied vegetarian dinner.
As a starter, we serve a kemela salad with mango, coconut and sweet pepper. Alongside is falafel (deep-fried balls of spicy chickpeas) and apricots stuffed with chèvre and purple shiso.
Your main course consists of black-eyed peas in red onion with thyme, accompanied by braised spinach and baked sweet pumpkin, with a crisply mixed salad on the side.
Then enjoy Lemon posset pecan: a creamy lemon dessert with pecans.
Indonesian rice dishes
An Indonesian rice table with its many highly flavoured dishes is a favourite culinary tradition among the Dutch. Savour the flavours of this famous legacy!
You start your rice table with a ketoprak salad made from thin bami (noodles) and vegetables. Alongside is chicken saté (chicken kebab with spicy peanut sauce) accompanied by banana chips and deep-fried onion bits.
The main course is ikan bumbu rujak nasi, a sweet-spicy rice dish featuring fried pangasius. A little serving of sambal (hot chilli sauce) completes this tasty dish. A coconut and sweet potato salad and an Asian fruit salad with roedjak sauce (sweet soy sauce with tamarind and a dash of crushed chilli) complement the rice dish.
And finally, spekkoek: several thin layers of cake in two colours.
In the rare case that the meal you ordered is not available, you can always choose from our standard meals prepared by leading chefs when on board. You may then apply for a refund of the costs of your à la carte meal.
