    We do everything we can to make your journey as comfortable as possible. However, if your KLM flight does not go according to plan, you may be entitled to a refund of costs or compensation.

    Request a refund or compensation

    If you booked a flight on KLM.us more than 1 week before departure, you can apply for a refund within 24 hours after booking (in the United States only).

    Please send an e-mail to: refund.northamerica@klm.com, and mention your name, flight number, date, booking code. Also use ‘Customer First Program’ in the subject line.  

    If you paid via PayPal, please send an e-mail to: refund.northamerica@klm.com, and mention your name, ticket number and booking code. Please mention ‘PayPal’ in the subject line. 

    Please note: If you purchased your ticket from a travel agent, you should contact your travel agent. For tickets bought from an airline other than KLM, please contact that airline.

    Refund of ticket costs

    -Your flight was overbooked, but you checked in on time and you chose not to travel on an alternative flight.   
    -If the conditions of your ticket allow for a refund  
    -Your flight was delayed for more than 3 hours and you did not travel
    -In the event of death of a passenger
    -In case of a visa denial

    Please note: If you request a refund, all flights in your booking will be cancelled. Handling your refund request may take up to 4 weeks. The refund will be made in the same currency and via the same form of payment as used for the purchase of your ticket.  

    Refund of extra option costs:

    -Extra comfortable seat
    -Extra baggage
    -Upgrade to Business Class
    -A la carte meal

    Compensation

    -Your KLM flight was delayed for more than 3 hours

    -You were traveling to, from or through a European destination

    -Your flight was not delayed due to special circumstances, such as extreme weather conditions, political instability or a third party strike
