Checking in at the airport
Unable to check in online? Then check in at one of the self-service check-in machines at the airport and hand your baggage over at one of the baggage drop-off points.

Checking in
Checking in online is the fastest and simplest way of checking in. If you are unable to check in online you can still check in at one of our self-service check-in machines at the airport.
In just a couple of easy steps you can check in yourself and your travelling companions. As when you check in online, you can choose your favourite seat on board. You can also reserve a seat with extra legroom, or choose a seat in a row of only 2, if available.
This is how the self-service check-in machine works:
Step 1
Insert your passport or frequent flyer card, or enter your e-ticket number or booking code. Your reservation information appears on the screen.
Step 2
Select your seat on the seating map. You can also reserve a seat with extra legroom, or a seat in a row of only 2 seats.
Step 3
Print your boarding pass.
Step 4
Do you have check-in baggage? Simply hand it over at the nearest baggage drop-off point, and proceed to the gate. Have a good trip!
If you are already checked in, you can also use the self-service check-in machines to print your boarding pass. They are available round the clock at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol. At most other airports, the self-service check-in machines are available for checking in and printing boarding passes at least two hours before flight departure.

Checking in in the Premium Area
As a Business Class passenger or a Flying Blue or SkyTeam Elite member you can check in at our exclusive self-service check-in machines at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol. You can deliver your baggage either to a self-service or a regular baggage drop-off point.
These are located at check-in desks row 10 and 11 and are available for:
• passengers who are travelling in KLM World Business Class or KLM Europe Select; or
• Flying Blue Platinum, Gold, or Silver members; or
• SkyTeam Elite or Elite Plus members.

The check-in desks at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol are open from 05:00 am for all flights that depart that day. Our check-in desk staff is also pleased to help you should you only have a question.

Lounge check-in
Our KLM Crown Lounges at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol, Houston, Dubai and Toronto offer a comfortable and quiet check-in service. This service is also available in all Northwest WorldClub lounges and in the Air France lounge in terminal 2D at Paris-Charles de Gaulle.

Baggage drop-off
If you have already checked in, you only need to hand over your check-in baggage at one of the baggage drop-off points at the airport. Most airports accept your baggage up to 2 hours before your flight departs.

Self-service baggage drop-off
At Amsterdam Airport Schiphol you can deliver your baggage to a self-service baggage machine. These are located in Departure Hall 2.
The self-service baggage drop-off points can be used if:
• you are already checked in, either online or at one of the self-service check-in machines;
• you have not yet checked in any baggage;
• you have no more than 2 pieces of baggage;
• you have a valid travel document;
• the weight concept for measuring baggage applies to your flight. If this is the case, your e-ticket will specify a weight in kilos (KG).
The self-service baggage drop-off point cannot be used for Aer Lingus flights. If you have excess baggage, or travel with a backpack, these can be delivered to the regular baggage drop-off points.
The self-service baggage drop-off point works as follows:
Step 1
Scan your boarding pass to identify yourself.
Step 2
Check the details about your booking that appear on the screen.
Step 3
An adhesive label is automatically printed. This can be attached to your baggage.
Step 4
Place your baggage on the belt. Your baggage is now checked in.
