An Olympic sports paradise
The Canada Olympic Park lies on the outskirts of downtown Calgary. In 1988, this was the centre of the Winter Olympics and even today the park hosts many sports competitions. This beautiful park attracts not only professional athletes; tourists also come here for lessons and to enjoy the many leisure opportunities.
Residents of Calgary have the beautiful Rocky Mountains at their disposal, but they don’t even need to leave the city to learn how to ski. They can just head to Canada’s largest ski school which is located in the Olympic Park. Snowboarders have not been forgotten: they can ride the spectacular half pipe that is just as steep as the one at the 2014 Sochi Winter Games. Even in summer there is a lot to do: set out on a mountain bike ride or have fun sliding down a zip line.
Ride along with a bobsleigh pilot
In 1988, the Olympic Park was the epicentre of the Winter Games. The venue hosted competitions such as the ski jump, bob sledding and luge. The Olympic facilities have been very well maintained.
Every winter the park attracts around 300,000 visitors and offers every ski and snowboard facility you can imagine. Daredevils can even go on an exciting bobsled ride with a professional pilot. In summer, the park is a sought-after destination for mountain bikers with 25 kilometres of trails to explore. And not to worry: there is a lift to assist you on the way up. The park is also a beloved summer festival location: one of the best known events is the popular Badlands music festival.
