Curaçao’s beach clubs are world renowned. In the daytime you can laze around and tan for hours, and at night the lounge beds, tables and chairs are moved aside and the party kicks off until dawn. The temperature rarely falls below 24 degrees – the ideal temperature to dance the night away with your feet in the sand.
Sandwiched between the Breezes Resort and the Sea Aquarium, Willemstad’s white sandy beach is where all the action is. On Tuesday night watch a movie in the balmy Caribbean ocean breeze, on Wednesday evening dance to salsa music, and on Thursday catch a performance by Dutch artists Nick & Simon. And on weekends you are in for a wild party at Mambo Beach and Wet & Wild. The free newspaper 'K-Pasa' is an invaluable resource, listing all the evening activities and what time happy hour begins.
Hemingway Beach Bar & Restaurant at the Lions Dive Beach Resort is open for ‘breakfast, lunch, dinner and more’. Happy hour starts early here; this is a popular sunset dining destination before heading out for a night at Mambo Beach and Wet & Wild. There is live music every Friday, Saturday and Sunday night. The daytime menu includes sandwiches, burgers and Dutch ‘bitterballs’, and during the evening the kitchen serves up salads, spare ribs and surf 'n' turf.
Curaçao’s most famous beach club is Mambo Beach. During the day you can sunbathe and lounge at the bar or on the sun beds by the pool or on the beach. The restaurant prepares salads, snacks and fresh fish. After sunset, Mambo transforms into a nightclub under the stars with a variety of themes, such as Dia Latino on Wednesday and Cuban night on Friday. The club also frequently hosts famous DJs and popular Dutch artists, such as Jan Smit, Gerard Joling and Alain Clark.
At first glance Wet & Wild doesn’t seem anything special: a beach bar with a few picnic tables and palapas umbrellas. But this is the place to dance until the early hours. Of all the beach bars at Seaquarium Beach, Wet & Wild stays open the longest, sometimes until 4:00 am, so the logical order is to end the night here. Sunday is the most popular evening. That’s when the bar offers not one but two happy hours and DJ Boogie keeps the locals and holidaymakers dancing until the wee hours.
