Art and Christmas fairs
Art lovers will find their way to Düsseldorf’s simply named art museums K20 and K21. The numbers reflect the centuries of artwork on display at each museum. So K20 exhibits works by Picasso and Mondriaan, whereas K21 features contemporary video and photography art. For shopping, peruse the famous fashion houses along the Königsallee or stroll along the Schadowstrasse. In winter this is where you will find just one of the many charming Christmas markets. Browse the market stands and warm up with a glass of delicious glühwein. Düsseldorf is not only perfect for a city trip but also makes a great starting point for a longer holiday in Germany. Dinner with a view
The Hofgarten is a favourite spot among locals, especially on a sunny day. Admire the sculptures in the park and relax on the grass by the fountain. Or relax on a patio along the Rheinuferpromenade. At night walk over to the beautifully illuminated Rheinturm. Together with the illuminated Rheinkniebrücke Bridge on the left, this makes for a picturesque setting. Climb to the top of the tower and enjoy a truly spectacular city view from the revolving platform, or enjoy a romantic dinner.
