There are 3 mountains in the immediate vicinity of Vancouver that are popular with winter sports enthusiasts: Cypress Bowl, Mount Seymour and Grouse Mountain. The latter, only fifteen minutes by car from the city centre, is popularly called the ‘Peak of Vancouver’. A trip to Grouse Mountain guarantees a very special experience, namely skiing and snowboarding while enjoying views of the Vancouver skyline.
An easy way to reach Grouse Mountain is by local bus. It’s very popular with skiers, so don’t be surprised to see people taking their snowboards and ski equipment on board. To reach the slope itself, a ride on the Sky Ride Tram is recommended, if only to enjoy the breathtaking views as you ascend 900 metres. The tram ticket also provides access to the slopes.
