No European city is as famous (and infamous) for its boundless nightlife as Berlin. Thanks to unrestricted opening hours the night never ends and nowhere more so than in Friedrichshain. During the Cold War this neighbourhood on the Spree River became derelict and shabby, but since the Wall came down it has been rejuvenated. Here you will find 3 nightclubs where you can let go of all inhibitions until early Monday morning.
Friedrichshain is sometimes referred to as an inside-out art gallery. Art is everywhere and especially on the exterior walls of the abandoned warehouses, power stations and viaducts that have been transformed into pop-up galleries, guerrilla restaurants and techno clubs. Some of these underground locations are now run by commercial companies and have gone mainstream, but others still cling to their alternative vibe and independence, amidst rusting industrial relics, colourful graffiti, experimental music and a hippie-like attitude of love and peace. Throughout Friedrichshain, Berlin is still sowing its wild oats.
