Getting around the city
Hannover has an excellent public transportation network, made up of buses, trams, and a subway. Day tickets are available and are good value for travellers planning to take more than two trips. The Hannover Card, issued by the tourist office, provides free rides on public transportation as well as discounts for museums and other attractions. Taxis are expensive, but large vehicles for seven to nine people are available by phone and can be cost effective for groups. Like many cities in Europe, Hannover is a bicycle and pedestrian-friendly metropolis, with bike lanes on many roads and a large pedestrianised area in the city centre.

Currency
The unit of currency is the Euro (EUR), divided into 100 cents. ATMs and exchange bureaux are widely available. The major credit cards are becoming more widely accepted in large shops, hotels and restaurants, although Germans themselves prefer to carry cash. The quickest and most convenient way to change money is to obtain cash from one of the ATM machines that are ubiquitous features on all German streets. Banks are closed on weekends, but exchange bureaux at airports and main railway stations are open daily.
Communication
The international access code for Germany is +49. Telephone numbers in Germany can range from four to nine digits. There are surcharges on international calls made from hotels; it is often cheaper to use public telephone boxes in post offices, which use phone cards. The local mobile phone operators use GSM networks and have roaming agreements with most international operators. Internet cafes are available in the main towns.

Getting to the city
The S5 Hannover Airport Line runs to Hannover Central Station every 30 minutes between 3:35am and 1am. The 470 bus departs several times per hour for the Langenhagen Zentrum station from the stop between the Maritim Airport Hotel and Car Park 3. Several shuttle services are also available.
Car rental
Car rental companies operating from the airport include AVIS, Enterprise, Euromobil, Europcar, Hertz, and Sixt.
Airport taxi's
Taxi ranks are located in front of the terminal exits on the arrivals level. The trip to the city centre takes about 20 minutes.
Transfer between terminals
The three terminals are all connected and can be explored on foot.
Facilities
Facilities at the airport include a lost and found, left luggage facilities, a tax-refund desk, bureaux de change, religious counselling facilities, executive lounges and VIP services, and a variety of shopping and dining options.
Parking
Parking starts at €4 for the first hour, up to €20 for the first day, €40 for two days, and €50 for three days.
Internet
Wifi is available in all three terminals and is free for the first hour.
