Stately buildings and lively squares
The historic centre of Lima is compact and easy to walk around. The best starting point is Plaza Mayor, with the large fountain in the middle. On this lively square, you’ll find Lima Cathedral and the stately city hall. A few blocks away is the yellow church of San Francisco. Typical of the city are the beautiful wooden balconies that adorn the houses everywhere. In the evening, visit the Circuito Mágico del Água, a fountain show full of light and colour. Lima is an ideal destination for a cultural city break or the perfect start for a longer holiday in Peru. Discover it yourself:

South American surprises
Peru is a country with one of the most extraordinary cuisines in South America. The most common ingredients are potatoes and fish. Many seafood restaurants in Lima are open for lunch only as fish is considered only fresh enough to serve until that time by the local chefs. The most famous dish is ceviche: raw fish in lime juice. Once you’ve eaten your fill, travel to the Nazca Lines, the world-famous sand drawings that have been preserved over the centuries. The spectacle is best enjoyed from the air.
