Practical info Humberside, United Kingdom

Getting around the city

Visitors to the Humberside region and its city Kingston-upon-Hull, will find that they have a few different options when it comes to getting out and about. The main mode of public transportation in Humberside is the bus network, which most people use to get around within the city of Hull and the surrounding towns and suburbs. Each bus runs according to a different schedule, which is dependent on the particular route. Therefore it is best to familiarise oneself with a timetable and plan journeys ahead of time. Regular train services connect Humberside to other popular UK destinations such as Manchester, Doncaster, Birmingham and Nottingham. A cheaper option would be to use National Express coaches to connect to these cities; while the journeys are inevitably longer, travellers will make a considerable saving. There are numerous different taxi companies that serve Humberside and surrounding areas. While taxis are useful for travelling short distances and a safer travel option late at night, fares can become pricey on longer journeys. Visitors will also have the option of hiring a car and most international car hire companies have branches at Humberside International Airport or in Hull.
