A city hall with billy-goats
The Old City is one of the most popular districts, which despite its name, is not the oldest part of the town. It was the first part of Poznań that received city privileges. At the heart of the Old Town square, you can find the Ratusz – the city hall with an extraordinary façade. Every day at noon, two billy-goats will show above the clock to strike the midday hour. Today the city hall accommodates the Historical Museum of Poznań. The oldest part of Poznań is Ostrów Tumski, an island enclosed by the rivers Warta and Cybina. On this island, you will find the oldest cathedral in Poland, an impressive Gothic building where Mieszko I, the very first Duke of Poland, is buried.
