Public transport in Linkoping is administered by AB ÖstgötaTrafiken, the regional public transport provider, which offers bus, train and tram services across the county. While trains are mostly used to reach neighbouring towns and cities, buses are the most common form of public transport within the city. Overall, the city's transport network is efficient and environmentally friendly, with the majority of public buses having been converted to run on biogas. Information about timetables is readily available, with informative signage on most bus stops, as well as on the Östgöta website. Travellers should note that tickets cannot be bought on the bus or from the driver, and must be purchased at participating supermarkets or through vending machines. Weather permitting, walking is also a feasible option since, despite its overall size, the city centre is fairly compact and contains a significant number of Linkoping's attractions.
Local time is GMT +1 (GMT +2 between the last Sunday in March and the last Sunday in October).
Electric current is 230 volts, 50Hz. Standard European two-pin plugs are used.

Light to moderate rains, punctuated by occasional thunderstorms, are fairly common. While travellers will not get to see the midnight sun in Linkoping, it does set as late as 10pm in late June and as early as 3pm in mid-December. The best time of year to visit Linkoping is in the summer months between June and August.
