Travel to and from Canada

Most passengers travelling to or through Canada need a visa or an eTA. Find out which rules apply to you to make sure your journey goes as smooth as possible.

Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA)

Residents of countries under the Visa Waiver Program may travel to Canada without having to request a visa. However, they will need to apply for an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA).
Without an eTA, these passengers will not be allowed to check-in/board their flight to Canada.

Visa

Residents of countries that are not under the Visa Waiver Program may travel to Canada after getting a visa. Without a visa, these passengers will not be allowed to check-in/board their flight to Canada.
