Each Flying Blue level gets you different benefits. The more you fly, the more XP (Experience Points) you gain. These allow you to reach higher levels and enjoy the perks that go along with them!
How do XP work?
You gain XP on all eligible flights with Air France, KLM and HOP! and SkyTeam partners. The number of XP you gain depends on your travel class and flight type.

How can you maintain or upgrade your Flying Blue status?
You’ll have 12 months to gain enough XP to increase your level. These 12 months begin as soon as you earn your first Miles or gain your first XP after joining the Flying Blue programme. Once you gain enough XP to move up a level, you’ll be upgraded instantly.
- Gain 100 XP to advance to Silver. When you reach your new status, your XP counter starts back at zero. You’ll get to enjoy the benefits of this new status for 15 months.
- When you become a Silver member, you’ll have another 12 months to maintain your status or to move up to Gold.
- Gain 100 XP to maintain your Silver status. They will be subtracted from your total and you’ll keep any remaining XP.
- If you gain 180 XP, you’ll move up to Gold. In this case, we’ll subtract the 180 XP from your XP counter and you’ll keep the rest. You’ll get to enjoy the benefits of this new status for 15 months.
- If you gain less than 100 XP to maintain your Silver status within these 12 months, you’ll become an Explorer.
- Gain 180 XP to maintain your Gold status. After 12 months, we’ll subtract the 180 XP from your total and you’ll keep any remaining XP.
- If you gain 300 XP, you’ll move up to Platinum. In this case, we’ll subtract the 300 XP from your XP counter and you’ll keep the rest. You’ll get to enjoy the benefits of this new status for 15 months.
- If you don’t gain 180 XP within these 12 months, you’ll become Silver.
- Gain 300 XP and maintain your Platinum status. After 12 months, we’ll subtract the 300 XP from your total and you’ll keep the rest. This will give you a head start for the next period.
- If you don’t gain 300 XP in 12 months, you’ll become Gold.
